Thank you to our AAP Community

This year we have celebrated 50 years of AAP that included events and activities designed to engage the whole AAP Community. We are grateful we could share this exciting anniversary year with you. As we look to the new year, we look forward to sharing with you highlights from the 50th year here.

Thank you to all who attended the AAP 50th celebration event – whether in person or from the comfort of your home. What an amazing way to gather and celebrate the milestone of an essential program on UCLA’s campus. From special messages from UCLA leadership and AAP Alumni to our amazing student performers from the Nigerian Student Association Dance Team, Grupo Folklorico de UCLA, UCLA’s Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, and Mariachi de Uclatlan – the event truly celebrated what makes AAP so special. During this special anniversary year, we also hit another amazing milestone THANKS TO YOU – we raised just over $109,000 for the 2021 Spark Giving campaign in support of AAP and its students!

Hear from the AAP community in the 50th thank you video below and tune in here soon for the recording of the event.

Thank You to our Supporters

UCLA’s Academic Advancement Program has received 50 years of support from our most loyal and kind donors. Since 1971 over 4,300 individuals and organizations have invested in AAP through giving, making a truly transformational impact on the lives of generations of historically underrepresented, first-generation, and low-income students at UCLA. Each gift, endowed scholarship, crowdfunding participation, and volunteer engagement has made all the difference. Your unwavering commitment has brought us to this important milestone, and will be the foundation for sustaining our future.

Looking Back…

We enjoyed celebrating with you this year through our regularly scheduled AAP annual events that you’ve come to love and our Distinguished Speaker Series. This series was a celebration of social mobility, rich diversity, academic excellence, and change-makers. As a community we spent many evenings being inspired and challenged during these monthly talks featuring UCLA’s renowned faculty, alumni, and friends.
